GAS PRICES, SOAR TO OVER $2.00 IN THE MIDWEST, WHY?

What seems to be an overlooked, and forgotten about prediction, of the Y2K paranoia last year, has come true, for people in the midwest region of the country.

While the average price of one gallon of regular gas, throughout the nation, is $1.50, we, here in the midwest are having to pay over $2.00, for that same gallon. Why??

Well, to here the service station owners tell it, there are several factors, that have caused the hike.

First, is the price of oil, coming from the middle East. OPEC, (Organization of Oil Exporting Countries), has cut back on production, to force prices up.

Well, why are we still up over $2.00 a gallon??

Secondly, the government, has just implemented new, higher standards for oil refiners to meet, starting this year.

These new regulations, call for a less polluting, cleaner gas, which means the
companies, have to spend millions of dollars, researching the processes, to produce this cleaner gas, and the customer, has to pay for it.

So, why isn't the rest of the nation paying $2.00, like we are??

The third explanation is that an oil supply line, that supplies 1/3 of all the gas, that is for use in the midwest, ruptured, and spilled hundreds, of thousands, if not millions of gallons of gas, thus causing a shortage of gas, which drove the price up, above $2.00.

As a result, we were told that a lot of stations were put on a rationing system, and many of them ran out of gas, and had to close up, or if they were the 'quik mart' type, which many of them are, they could make a little money during this mess.

Needless to say, the general public weren't too happy with what was going on.

Talk of conspiracy by the oil companies began to spread, and then the call for the federal government to look in to the situation, and possibly open up the reserves of gas that it has, to help offset, or bring down, the high price of gas. Meanwhile, some motorists, began to do things that they probably wouldn't do. They would drive up to a gas pump, and fill up their cars, and drive off without paying, thus making them criminals. I don't know how widespread this was, but it goes to show you what begins to happen, when people get desperate.

Quite frankly, I didn't know that they still had stations, where you could pump gas first, and then go in and pay for it.

Any way, as I began to think about what was happening, and why and the excuses I was hearing, things didn't add up.

If this was an oil company conspiracy to get prices up to $2.00 or more, then why only the midwest, and not the whole country??? Most of the other states, are paying about $1.50, and that is what they call high. California and New York, two of the richest states in the nation, aren't even at $2.00, so that doesn't make any sense.

Add to that, the coincidence of the fuel supply line rupturing, and you begin to go, hmmmmmmm.

The last time that we had a gas crisis, was under Jimmy Carter, who just happened to be another Democrat. It's funny how these things happen when they are in office.

Here in Michigan, a local TV station has started a campaign to get the governor, John Engler, to suspend the gas tax, to help ease the price of gas down below $2.00. Since the gas tax is about 16% of the total price, that would bring the price of regular, which most people use, down below that point. However, the governor has said, no.

The news station is now gathering signatures from the state's congresspeople and senators, to try to get them to do something to get rid of the tax, temporarily, until things get back to normal, whatever that is.

The governor says that if he did what they want him to do, then that would cut a good part of the funding for schools, and highway repairs, off since the tax is connected in to both.

The stations, apparently got the idea, from neighboring states, which are suspending their tax, for a few months.

Recently, after the federal government announced an investigation in to the matter, on the same day, the price of regular gas dropped below $2.00 for the first time in a little over a month.

All of this chicanery, lets me see how things that we take for granted, can change, and make people do all sorts of things, that they wouldn't otherwise do.

People are beginning to think that there is a conspiracy somewhere, and they are probably right. But, who, and why???

There are many possibilities, and we may never get to the bottom of this, Needless to say, we need to know, and put our trust in something that is not left up to the whims of man, as to how it will go.

That some thing, is really some one, and His name, is Jesus Christ. He is the only constant, unchangeable, solid foundation, on which you can trust.

This nation depends on oil. It is, its life's blood. Just about everything we do, and everything we have, in one way or another, is made possible because of it.

Having that type of dependence on anything, is dangerous, especially if it is under the control of men.

What we have seen, with the gas prices, is only the beginning, of things that will shake you up big time. Man, has the capability to do just about any thing he wants, to control, manipulate, and just plain ruin your life.

Don't you want a bit of stability in your life??? Jesus is your answer.
