Have you ever heard a person, accused of committing a sin, reply, "Well, nobody's perfect!"? That is almost a cliche. But what it is, is a pathetic attempt, to excuse themselves from the responsibility for their actions, while at the same time, trying to intimidate their accuser.

If we look at most of the problems we have in our society, you will find that they are predicated on one thing, and that is the refusal of people to take responsibility for their actions.

Even when they are caught, dead to rights, they will launch into a myriad of reasons for why they did what they did. It is not unusual, for a person that has cold bloodedly killed someone, to blame the victim, who can't defend themselves, for their death.

Witness the murder trial of the Menendez brothers in California, who killed their parents (they admitted this), while the parents were watching TV, because they thought the parents were going to kill them, because they said, the father had been abusing them for years.

The thing wrong with this story is, that they killed the mother also, then went on a spending spree with the money that they could get their hands on, that the parents had in the house.

They covered up their part in the killing, until the evidence surfaced, pointing to them being the guilty ones.

Then they, with the help of their attorneys, came up with the idea of putting the blame on their dead parents.

All of this, is an attempt, that so far has paid off, to avoid facing punishment (the death penalty), for what they did.

The idea of putting blame on someone else, dates back to the fall of man, in the garden of Eden (Gen. 3). God had told man, what he could, and couldn't do.

But, he did the one thing that God said for him not to do.

When God confronted Adam, he blamed God and Eve, by saying that "the woman that You gave me, gave me the fruit, and I did eat." Eve, not going to accept the blame, said "the serpent tricked me, and I did eat." The serpent, didn't have the luxury of passing on the blame.

However, God cursed all three of them, because there was no excuse for what they had done. He had given Adam and Eve, clear instruction, on what they would suffer, if they disobeyed Him.

As mentioned earlier, today, is no different than back then.

In fact, we have become so proficient at it, that we can come up with an excuse, at the drop of a hat. If we can't come up with one ourselves, we can hire a lawyers, psychologists, or sociologists, and they have a million of them.

Now, while I am aware of circumstances that come into our lives, that we feel warrants a certain behavior, remember, we always have the options of doing wrong, or saying, no. With the exception of self defense, there is no reason to kill someone. All other actions, are open to choice.

Young people, what reason do you have for committing fornication? Smoking? Using drugs? Killing? Stealing? Being disrespectful to your elders, including your parents? Not working? Abandoning your kids? Is it revenge?

Is it because you see others doing it? Maybe you feel like you are not going to be accepted by the crowd you are hanging out with? Maybe it is because of the way your parents have treated you?

God knows, some people are in terrible shape, to be parents.

Maybe you are black, and you feel the white man is the problem. Maybe you are white, and you feel the black man is the problem. Maybe, your family is starving, and you are doing it, to feed them.

Well, I have news for you, and this may be hard for some of you to take, but, there is no excuse for you doing, what you are doing.

NONE!!

Why? With all of the things that are available to us, to keep us from having to do these things, we can't say, we had no choice. There is always someone, or some government assistance available, or some other activity that can help us to overcome the temptation to do wrong. Most of all, there is God.

Since God is our Creator, and it is His rules that we must follow, then it is His responsibility to provide us with alternatives, to doing wrong.

And let me say, that He has.

There is no temptation, that we face, that God has not made a way for us to escape.

NONE!!

And just because I addressed the young people, doesn't mean that you older folks, are off the hook. You should be setting the example, for the younger ones to follow. What example are you setting? What excuse do you have? You may have a million of them, but, they are no good.

In the garden of Eden, He (God), provided food, companionship, and a multitude of things to do. Yet, Adam and Eve, chose to go outside the realm that God provided, to seek something extra. And because of that, man became alienated from God. Even though God still loved him, man became, in effect, His enemy. Why? Because he (man), had aligned himself with the devil.

And that is the state of mankind today.

Everyone of us, was born, as a slave to sin. Our allegiance, is to the devil. And there is nothing that we can do, in and of ourselves, to get back to God.

Now, God wouldn't be right, if He expected us to do what He says, and not make a way for us to do it, would He?

But, He has made a way, and that way, is Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life ..." (St. John 14:6) It is the life of Christ, that we should be modeling our lives after, not man.

There isn't one single human being, that is, or has walked this earth, other than Christ, that has not failed God, in one way or another.

Moses failed. David failed. Samson failed. Only Jesus, lived the perfect life that God required. And we can live that same type of life, because Jesus will be our guide, through this life, if we will but trust Him.

Once again, we see people putting off turning their lives over to Christ, saying, "Nobody's perfect." What they are saying is, 'no one can live up to the standards that God has set forth, therefore, I will do as I please.'

Well, remember that, when you stand before God, and He says, "you have no excuse."

His plan, is so simple, that there really is no excuse. All you have to do is pray, "JESUS, I AM A SINNER, AND I AM SORRY FOR MY SINFUL WAYS. WILL YOU COME INTO MY HEART, AND CLEANSE ME FROM ALL MY SIN, AND BE LORD OF MY LIFE. I ACCEPT YOU AS LORD AND SAVIOR, AND WITH YOUR HELP, I WILL LIVE MY LIFE FOR YOU. I BELIEVE THAT YOU DIED ON THE CROSS FOR MY SINS, AND WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD, FOR MY JUSTIFICATION."

If you prayed that prayer, from the heart, meaning every word, congratulations, you are now saved. Now, begin to trust Jesus, to help you live perfect.
