SUBJECT VERSE - 1 COR. 3 : 19                                                                                                                            JUNE, 2003


For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

SUBJECT - A MATTER OF SENSE

Have you ever heard this statement, 'God gave you 5 senses, and you need to use them?' Or, how about this one, 'None of that makes any sense?'

Now there is a very good reason for people making these statements, and I would like to delve in to the 'real deal, if you will.

First, the notion that God gave us 5 senses, is not true. Now, it sounds perfectly logical, but there is a reason that this is not true.

If we look at the creation of Adam, we will see that the bible says that man, was made in the image of God, and that everything that God created was 'good.'

Therefore when He created man, He put all of His attributes in to this being, formed by His hands, and in to whom He breathed the breath of life.

Now, let's jump forward to today, for a minute.

Today, we have man, formed in the image of God, and in whom God's breath of life still remains. However, when it comes down to understanding God, we look at the description, of God, and how He operates, and we are at a loss. It doesn't compute. It doesn't add up.

But, wait a minute. Didn't God make us in His image? And didn't He instill all of His attributes in us? If He filled us with His attributes, meaning all of His qualities, then what happened between then and now, that we have strayed so far from understanding Him?

What happened is, we lost the majority of those attributes, when Adam sinned against God.

In the beginning, Adam, for all intents and purposes, not only was made to live eternally, but had a fully functioning mentality, that enabled him to understand all things, in all clarity, and to function in every area of existence.

Scientists have said, and most agree, that even at the position of being a genius, on the highest level, man only uses about 8 percent, of his total brain capacity.

Now, if God created man with only 8 [percent of brain capacity functioning, then, that is not good.

The fact is, we lost about 90< percent of those attributes when Adam sinned against God.

We are all aware of people in our midst, that seem to have abilities that are unexplainable by normal means. We look at people with these abilities, and call their powers as being paranormal, and ESP (extra sensory perception), clairvoyant, soothsayers, nuts and a variety of other names.

However, in a lot of instances, these are actually glimpses of powers that Adam had, but lost.

When we look at how Adam had the ability to name all of the animals that God brought to him to name, as well as naming the woman, and calling her, 'bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh', as well as how he walked with God every day, we can see that Adam was a real work of art, if you will.

I have heard some preachers say that Adam could speak to the animals (like Dr. Doolittle). Others have said that Adam had the ability to convey himself from one place to another, merely by thinking it. Then we have those preachers that say that these claims are the claims of foolishness. Are they?

Think about these.

Num 22:28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
Num 22:29 And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.
Num 22:30 And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.
Num 22:31 Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.
Num 22:32 And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:
Num 22:33 And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive.

Here, we have a man, talking to a jackass, and he isn't even shocked that the ass was talking to him.

Then, we have the story of Philip.

Acts 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
Acts 8:39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Here, Philip, after ministering to the Ethiopian Eunuch, the bible uses the term, caught him away. It doesn't say he walked away, he was caught away, meaning it was a supernatural departure.

We can read about dreams and visions that many of the men and women of God exhibited in both the old and new testaments, as well as the gifts of the Spirit, manifested to the Church, as mentioned in 1 Cor. 12.

When Adam was first created, there is no telling what all, he could do.

No, God did not give us 5 senses, but rather, He allowed us to keep 5 out of the 10 or more that we originally had.

Now, as far as things not making sense to us, to God it does.

Well, that doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out.

If you are operating on an IQ level of 1, and a person is operating on an IQ level of, let's say, 1000, then you can see the problem. There is no way for us to understand them.

Yet, here we are, walking around, with our little pion brains, thinking we are in to something, and saying that the one that is operating on the higher level, is somehow lacking in common sense, it is almost laughable.

We tend to judge everybody, and everything, based on our understanding, without taking in to consideration that there are those among us, that have abilities, and I am talking about, God given abilities, that to us seem like foolishness, yet, they could be sent to us, to enlighten us in certain areas of our lives.

When I hear a lot of preachers, talking like these things are the imaginations of someone that is in dreamland, it shows me why, Christians are, in a lot of instances, living in a state of defeat, or at the least, below the promises that God has given them.

Look, the bible says, Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, ..... that tells me, we have a lot more capabilities available to, and in us, than we can even comprehend. I say this, because the Holy Spirit, the same Spirit, that raised Christ from the dead, and is responsible for all of the miracles in the bible. After all, the Holy Spirit, is Spirit, of God. And it is this power that is at work in us.

The problem is, after hearing so much negativity, about things that God did back then, is not for today, most Christians just live
their lives, pretty much along the lines of, 'being saved, is enough, forget all that extra stuff.'

That 'extra stuff', is what gives us the advantage over the rest of the world, and the devil. If we don't use it, then we have lowered ourselves to the same level as the world.

We can't glorify God, if we have nothing to offer the world.

Can you imagine a police officer, being confronted by a criminal, armed with a toy knife, and the policeman throws up his hands, and lets the criminal, do whatever he wants, and then leaves?

Well, the devil, has no power or authority over the Christian. Yet, if you are to believe these same preachers, trying to act like you have authority, is an exercise in futility.

Did Jesus lie, when He said, Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you? If you listen to these preachers, that is what they are saying. But of course, they cover it up, by saying something about dispensations, or 'if it is God's will.'

What is God's will, is that we defeat the enemy, not just barely, but decisively, in all areas.

Have you ever heard the saying, 'Shoot for the moon, and if you miss, you will still be among the stars'? You never will know, what you are capable of, through God, if you never attempt to do anything, that defies common sense.

I experienced, God, raising my son from the dead, when I laid hands on him, and rebuked death, and called life, back in to his body. That was 17 years ago, and he is still alive today. This was done, because I dared to defy all of the common sense evidence, that he was dead, and there was no coming back.

A lot of you have lost loved ones, to disease or some other thing, because you accepted the evidence that the doctor's told you. But, don't feel bad. Preachers do the same thing, all the time. The person is still alive in the hospital, and the doctor tells the preacher that the person is about to die. So, the preacher comes in and administers the last rites. He doesn't even attempt to go against what the doctor says, even though, God has the last word, on all of it. But, as the bible says, Jas 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Do you know that we are admonished to think and operate the same way Jesus did?? 1Cor 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Having the mind of Christ, means walking above the way the world thinks.

Sure you will be looked at as a nut case. Sure you will be looked at as a religious fanatic. Sure people will talk about you. That's what happens when people with small minds, encounter someone that shows them just how small their mental state is.

But what does that matter?

If you have a need that man can't fulfill, and God can, why not seek Him for it. It's just a matter of sense. God sense.
